In short: Use EchoLingual for legitimate language learning. Be respectful. Don't upload content that's illegal, harmful, or that you don't have rights to use.
Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") outlines the rules for using EchoLingual. It's designed to ensure a safe, effective learning environment for all users. Violating this Policy may result in account suspension or termination.
Acceptable Uses
✓ You MAY use EchoLingual to:
- Learn languages through personal study
- Upload content you own or have permission to use
- Upload public domain content or content under open licenses
- Create and manage your personal vocabulary lists
- Use AI features for language learning assistance
- Export your learning data for personal use
- Share your own original content if you choose
Prohibited Content
✗ You may NOT upload, create, or share:
Illegal Content
- Content that violates any applicable law
- Pirated or illegally obtained material
- Content that promotes illegal activities
Harmful Content
- Content promoting violence, terrorism, or self-harm
- Hate speech or content that attacks individuals or groups
- Sexually explicit or pornographic material
- Content exploiting or endangering minors
- Harassment, bullying, or threatening content
Infringing Content
- Copyrighted content without proper authorization (movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, etc.)
- Trademark-infringing material
- Content that violates others' privacy rights
Deceptive Content
- Malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Phishing attempts or fraudulent content
- Spam or misleading information
Prohibited Behaviors
- Attempt to access other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Attempt to bypass security measures or usage limits
- Use automated tools to scrape or collect data
- Resell or commercially redistribute the Service
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
- Use the Service to build competing products
- Abuse the AI features (e.g., using them for non-language-learning purposes)
Copyright Guidelines
Important: EchoLingual is designed for learning with content you have rights to use.
Content You CAN Use
- Your own recordings: Audio or video you created yourself
- Public domain: Works where copyright has expired
- Creative Commons: Content with appropriate CC licenses
- Licensed content: Content you have explicit permission to use
- Educational fair use: Brief excerpts for personal study (use good judgment)
Content You Should NOT Use
- Commercial movies, TV shows, or streaming content
- Commercial music or albums
- Audiobooks or podcasts without permission
- News broadcasts (unless for brief educational excerpts)
- Any content obtained through piracy
AI Usage Guidelines
Our AI features are designed to assist your language learning. Please use them responsibly:
- AI tutoring is for educational purposes only
- Don't use AI features to generate harmful or inappropriate content
- AI responses may contain errors—verify important information
- Don't attempt to manipulate or "jailbreak" AI systems
Enforcement
We may take the following actions for Policy violations:
- Warning: For minor or first-time violations
- Content Removal: Removing specific violating content
- Temporary Suspension: Restricting access for a period
- Account Termination: Permanent removal for serious or repeated violations
- Legal Action: For illegal activities or significant harm
We aim to be fair and proportionate. We'll generally provide notice and an opportunity to address issues before terminating accounts, except for severe violations.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as needed. Significant changes will be communicated through the Service or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
